How the recommendation works

The quiz blends four signals: your interests (Nigerian-adapted RIASEC), your academic stream and grades, your JAMB readiness, and your practical preferences around region, fees and time. We weight these into a fit score and rank the top 5 courses for you, with 3 alternatives worth considering.

Every recommendation shows its reasoning. You will see exactly why a course was ranked where it was, with the JAMB cut-off context, career earnings band and the universities that fit your situation.

What we do not do

This is a structured thinking tool, not professional career advice. We do not collect your name, email, school or any personal identifier. Results live in your browser and on a short anonymous share link that contains no personal data. Speak to a teacher, parent or qualified counsellor before finalising your JAMB choices.

Frequently asked questions

How does the JAMB career quiz work?

The quiz runs in four stages. First you say where you are in the JAMB journey. Then you answer 25 short interest questions adapted from the RIASEC model. Then you share your academic stream, subjects and (if you have it) your JAMB score. Finally you set practical preferences for region, fees and study duration. The tool blends all four signals into a fit score and ranks the top 5 courses for you, with 3 alternatives.

Is the career quiz free?

Yes, completely free. There is no payment, no subscription and no premium tier. The quiz, the result page and every course and university page it links to are free to use. jamb.guide is an independent guide published by Blackcedar Media; the career quiz is part of the free site.

Do I need my JAMB score before taking the quiz?

No. The quiz has a pre-JAMB path for SS2 and SS3 candidates who have not sat the UTME yet, a post-JAMB path for candidates who have their score, and an exploring path for parents and the undecided. If you do not have a score, the quiz uses your stream and subject strengths instead, and you can retake it later with your real score for a sharper result.

How long does the quiz take?

About 8 minutes for most users. The 25 interest questions are the longest stage, with one tap per question and automatic progression. Your progress is saved in your browser as you go, so you can close the tab and resume later without losing answers.

Will my data be saved or shared?

No personal data is collected. The quiz asks for no name, no email, no phone number and no school. Your answers live only in your browser's local storage. The shareable result link contains an anonymous reference ID and no personal information, so it is safe to send to a parent or teacher.

Can my parents take the quiz on my behalf?

Yes. The quiz has an exploring path designed for parents, and the result page has a parent view that reorganises the output to lead with career earnings, fees and university fit. A parent can run the quiz, share the anonymous result link, and the child can open it and switch to the candidate view.
